Edgar J. Bracco

Edgar J. Bracco, 88, of Lyndhurst, NJ on Sunday, August 3, 2008. He spent most of his business career with McGraw-Hill, where he was in market research. He was also an editor and a senior writer. He retired at age 57 to concentrate on his writing. He has published five books, short stories in the Saturday Evening Post, Seventeen, and elsewhere, articles in the Reader's Digest, Yankee and other publications. Some of his books were written on contract for John Wayne's Batjac Productions. He took the shooting scripts of several films and turned them into novels for simultaneous movie/book release. His stories in the Saturday Evening Post were dramatized on radio. He also took several television series, which appeared on NBC, and turned them into volumes of short stories. After his retirement he concentrated on travel writing. The governments of Switzerland, Germany, Spain, and Haiti sent him on numerous trips to their countries, where he visited many areas and attractions. His articles describing them have appeared in most of the mojor newspapers in the US and Canada. He has also written many articles on retirement, nostalgia, and some in the area of social commentary. He has lectured at Fairleigh Dickinson University, showing slides of his many trips. For some time he taught a course in Creative Writing at Rutherford High School's adult program. He is survived by his wife, the former Rose Milone of Lyndhurst. There was no religious services. Arrangement by Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ. In lieu of flowers, those interested are asked to contribute to their favorite charity.
