Ruzzo, Lawrence, of Lyndhurst, NJ on Tuesday, August 17, 2004. Beloved husband of Theresa (nee Cortazzo). Devoted father of Robert Ruzzo and Deborah Thorne. Dear brother of James Ruzzo. Cherished grandfather of Steven and Jason Thorne. Predeacesed by several brothers and sisters. Mr. Ruzzo lived in Lyndhurst for 55 years. He served in the US Army during WWII in the Air Borne Division. He parachuted into North Africa where he was captured and was a POW. He and several comrades escaped and he was awarded two bronze stars. Mr. Ruzzo was a partner with Ruzzo Brothers Sanitation for 40 years and a supervisor for Viola Brothers of Lyndhurst for 10 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 139 and the VFW Post 3549 of Lyndhurst. Funeral Saturday 9AM from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. Funeral Mass 10AM at St. Michael's RC Church. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received Thursday 7-9PM and Friday 2-4 and 7-9PM.
