Margaret Ferriero

March 16, 1922 — August 2, 2020

Margaret Ferriero (nee DiCamillo), 98, lifelong resident of Lyndhurst, NJ, passed on August 2, 2020. Predeceased by her parents Caroline (nee Bernardo) and Sisto DiCamillo. Beloved wife of the late James A. Ferriero. Loving mother of Barbara King and her husband Louis and Peter Ferriero and his wife Filomena. Adored grandmother of Peter Rocco Ferriero and his wife Kristina and Michele Terpak and her husband Gregory. Dear great grandmother of Christopher & Ryan Jacob. Cherished sister of Antonette Carpino and her husband the Late Michael, Nick DiCamillo and his wife Rose, and the late Ed DiCamillo and his wife the late Evelyn. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and predeceased by many Ferriero sisters & brothers-in-law. Jesus said, "I did not come to be served but to serve." This embodied Margaret DiCamillo Ferriero. Born and raised in Lyndhurst, Margaret, the "unofficial mayor," served her 2 children, Peter & Barbara, and husband Jimmy (who called her Queenie) as a humble homemaker. At an early age she had to quit school to work at Carolina's, her mother's grocery store on Sanford Ave where she resided for the last 93 years. She also worked at Foodtown and a sewing factory in Lyndhurst. Most importantly she did not only provide the family with food for the physical body, but fed them spiritually with her faith in Jesus. Through her service, work, and time given at Mt Carmel, Margaret devoted her life to her faith. She was an altar server for many funerals, she bought the body & blood of Christ to the altar for many to share, and volunteered for numerous events especially bingo. She kept a watchful eye on those drinking too much coffee. After more than one cup she would quote a favorite TV Seinfeld show and say "no more coffee for you." Until her dying day she continuously made rosary beads for the rosary society & generously gave the finished product of her frail, tired hands to many people, in a dying effort to spread the gospel, the good word of Jesus Christ to anyone she met. Her motto could be found in Colossians 3:16 "whatever you do whether in word or work , do it in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and give thanks to God the father through him." One thing is for sure, when Margaret rose into the loving hands of Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior, Jesus said 2 things: “assuredly today Margaret, you are with me in paradise “and “well done good and faithful servant of the Lord,"
In closing, as a band from the sixties sang..."Lets go go little Queenie"
