Modesta Gomez

Modesta Gomez of West New York passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018 surrounded by her sons. Daughter of Francisco Dominguez and Manuela Balsa, she was 93 years old.
She was born in Xavestre, Spain, near Santiago de Compostela on August 21, 1925. She married Jose Gomez in January of 1950 and emigrated to Cuba, where she raised her family.
In 1966 she emigrated to the US to join her children who had already been here for 4 years and settled in West New York, New Jersey.
She worked in the garment industry and enjoyed her many years at the Algonquin Hotel in New York City until she retired.
She loved her home and her family. Survived by Tony Gomez & his wife Lynne, and their children Chris and Sarah and Chriss wife Erin, Andy Gomez and Diane, and their children Andrew and Anthony.
She is also survived by her family members in Spain including her sisters Maruja & Emilia and her sister Hermosinda in Venezuela, and many nieces and nephews in the US, Spain, and Venezuela.
Funeral Thursday 9:15AM from the Hunt-Stellato Funeral Home, 1601 Palisade Ave, Fort Lee. Funeral Mass 10:15 St. Joseph Church of Palisades, West New York. Entombment Holy Name Mausoleum. Friends will be received Wednesday 4-8PM.
