Robert Alar

Robert Alar, 88, of Howell passed away on Tuesday June 23, 2020 at Centra State Hospital, Freehold. He was born to Peter and Mary Alar and raised in Luzerne, Pennsylvania and had lived in Hoboken and Jersey City before settling in Howell. He was a loving father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved to joke and laugh and would aim to make people laugh and smile wherever he went. He worked hard and loved even harder. He had a passion for Hank Williams music, singing along to his records. Master mechanic, a PSE&G man, an electrician, and a Jack of all trades. He loved to walk through and found peace in the mountains and connect with nature.

Robert was predeceased by his wife Aurora Alar, sons Robert and Steven, Brother Louis Alar and Sister Helen Rushnock, nephew Charles and niece Karen Mc Murtry. He is survived by his sister, Martha McMurtry and brother in law Charles McMurtry Bradenton, FL; daughter, Mary Alar-Hogger of Freehold; Sons, Lawrence Alar and wife Myriam, Edward Alar and Ann; grandchildren, Allison Hogger of Freehold, Rebecca Hogger of Freehold, Erik Hogger of Freehold; great grandson, Elric Ropp of Freehold; grandson in-law, Tim Ropp of Freehold; niece, Evelyn Garcia of Somerset; nephew, James Garcia and his wife, Thea of Freehold; nephew, Thomas & Janet Mc Murtry, Peter Mc Murtry, Joseph Gorgorlione and wife Joy; nieces, Mary and Doug Dikun, Lucy and Larry Angst, and Cheryl Askins-Morand; Grandchildren Nathan and Sarah, Stephen and Edward Jr.; great nephews, Evan and Jesse Garcia of Freehold; ; grand niece and nephews, Joe Jr. , Kristina and Thomas.
