It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Angel Luis Ruiz, who departed from this world on December 5th, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on February 12, 1946, in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico, Angel lived a life rich in love, family, and dedication. He moved to Newark, NJ, where he made his home, became an active member of St. Columba's Church, and nurtured a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Angel was preceded in death by his siblings, Ismael Ruiz, Otulio Ruiz, Sylvetre Ruiz, Rosa Ruiz, Gloria Ramos, Sebastian Ruiz, Elisa Esteves, Evangelista Esteves, Carmine Ruiz, and Raul Ruiz.
Angel was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Maria Ruiz, with whom he shared 49 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised five children, Joseph Ruiz, Jenny Ramos, Stefanie Montes, Jessica Rosado, and Arlene Ribeiro, who cherished their father deeply. Along with his children, Angel's family was completed by his grandchildren, Sarah, Joel, Rebekah, Leah, Isaiah, Christopher, Aaron, Abigail, Eva, Ethan, Gabriel, Ezekiel, Dominic, Karina, and Jacob who brought immense joy to his life.
He is also survived by his brother, Jesus Ruiz, and a multitude of friends and family members who will forever remember his warm smile and generous spirit.
Angel's roots were humble and he embodied the spirit of hard work and perseverance. He was employed at Mandee Shops in Totowa, NJ, where he made lasting friendships and contributed to the community that he loved. Angel's life was a true testament to the values of family, sacrifice, and resilience, which he instilled in his loved ones.
Vigil, Tuesday, December 9th, 2025 at 8:30 pm in St. Columba's Church, Newark NJ. Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 10th, 2025 at 10:00 am in St. Columba's Church, Newark. Burial, to follow, at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield NJ.
He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
