December 1, 1929 — July 10, 2025

It is s with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Anne Montillo, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, educator, and dedicated community servant, who passed on July 10, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on December 1, 1929 to Joseph & Elizabeth Marion in Lyndhurst, NJ, she lived a full and vibrant life, deeply rooted in her community. Anne was a pioneering figure in education, having owned the first day care in Lyndhurst, where she lovingly cooked for and nurtured the children, engaging them in music and arts and crafts to prepare them for elementary school. Her dedication to teaching led her to earn her certificate as a Dental Assistant, and she worked in a dental office in Wyckoff for many years before transitioning to instructing future dental assistants at Lyons College and, later, the American Business Academy in Hackensack.

A devoted parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, Anne served as a Eucharistic minister and was an active member of the choir. She was particularly proud of her charitable efforts, dedicating over a decade of her life in her 80s and 90s to feed the homeless at St. John's Church in Newark. Her compassion and determination to help others left a lasting impact on those she served. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Montillo. Loving mother of John & his wife Laura Montillo and Joanne & her husband Anthony Bursae. Cherished grandmother of John & his wife Bernadette Montillo, Anthony & his wife Audra Bursae, Alyssa Bursae and the late Joseph Montillo. Adored great-grandmother of Paige & her husband Kevin, Joelle, Tommy, Skyler, Adelaide, and Alder. Devoted great-great grandmother of Joey. Dear sister of Theresa Marraro and the late Marie Gadow, Fran Dell and Betty Russo. Sister-in-law of Perry Russo. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and godmother to many.

Friends and family are invited to visit at the funeral home Tuesday 4-8PM at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Rd., Lyndhurst. Funeral from the funeral home Wednesday 8AM followed by a 9AM Mass at Sacred Heart Church. Entombment Holy Cross Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Villa Marie Clare for respite care, in appreciation of the love and care shown to Anne during her life. The Villa was created to meet a need in the community for a freestanding, independent hospice. The innovative, one-of-a-kind place is a haven where people can actually find comfort and satisfaction knowing those they love are cared for around the clock by exceptional staff.

The family would also like to thank Holy Name Hospice for their amazing support, each member of the team treated Anne as if she was their own mother. The way you touched their family will always be remembered.
