Anthony “Tony” Urgola, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025.
Tony was born on July 19, 1940, in Newark, New Jersey, alongside his twin brother Peter, to parents Louise and Anthony Urgola. He grew up in a lively household with his three brothers—Peter, Vincent, and August—and was known early on for his charm and quick feet, earning the title of “Best Dancer” in high school.
In 1961, Tony met the love of his life, Loretta, and immediately embraced her three sons, Walter, Steven and David, as his own. In 1962, they welcomed their son, Anthony Jr., completing their family and raising their four boys in East Newark, New Jersey. The Urgolas made their home on Lake Avenue in Lyndhurst, New Jersey, in 1974, where their backyard became the heart of countless barbecues, pool parties, and cherished memories shared with friends and family for decades.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Tony owned and operated his own printing company, LADU, in Lyndhurst before retiring to Ortley Beach, New Jersey, in 2005, where he enjoyed his golden years by the ocean.
Tony is predeceased by his parents, Louise and Anthony; his loving wife, Loretta; his sons Walter and Steven (surviving life partner Sharon); his grandson Luke; his twin brother Peter (surviving wife Arlene); his brothers Vincent (surviving wife Arlene) and August (surviving wife Lauren); sister-in-law Shirley (late husband Marvin); and brother-in-law Ronald (late wife Ilene).

He also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will forever hold his memory close.
Tony will be remembered for his unwavering love for family, his warm heart, his sense of humor, and his lifelong advice to “enjoy your life.” His presence brought light and joy to everyone who knew him, and his legacy will live on in the generations he helped shape.
