Carmella Cease, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of her family, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, at the age of 92. She was born on December 29, 1933, in Jersey City, NJ to Vincenzo & Maria Canestrale. Carmella resided in Lyndhurst where she created a life full of love and devotion, touching the hearts of many. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to resonate through all who knew her.
Beloved wife of the late Jacob Cease. Loving mother of Sharon & her husband Michael Giaquinto and Renée & her husband Richard Szymczak. Proud grandmother of Michael Giaquinto, Kelly & her husband Michael Fitzgibbon, Laura & her husband Andrew Palumbo, and Richard & his wife Dianna Szymczak. Adored great-grandmother of Jacob, Vincent, Michael, Olivia, Tyler, Noah, Sofia, and Viviana. Dear sister of the late Angelina DeSpirito, Viola D'Agostino, Lillian Foran, Antoinette D'Agostino, Rocco Canestrale, Josephine Giordano, and David Canestrale. She held a special place in the hearts of many nieces, nephews, and cousins, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
A faithful servant of God, Carmella was an active member of The Christian Apostolic Church in Belleville, NJ. Her life was marked by her unwavering faith and her commitment to serving others, exemplifying the virtues of compassion, generosity, and spirit. She will be remembered as a guiding light and an unwavering source of strength.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects Tuesday 2-6PM at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. Funeral service Wednesday 9:30AM at the funeral home followed by Interment at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
In this time of mourning, let us remember the warmth, laughter, and love that Carmella brought into our lives. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
