Catherine J Mazzone

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Catherine J. Mazzone, who peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at the age of 86. Catherine was born on May 13, 1940, in Jersey City, NJ, and raised her family in Saddle Brook before spending her later years in Fairfield, NJ. She will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Catherine dedicated many years to her career as a telephone operator with NJ Bell, where she worked diligently for 40 years before retiring in the 90s. She went on to work at Consumer Products in Fairfield, where she continued her work ethic for an additional 25 years.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Catherine cherished the simple joys of life, from trips to Atlantic City with her late husband to savoring her favorite cup of tea and a cigarette.

Catherine was often cleaning and made sure to always have a spotless home where her growing family was always welcome.

Beloved wife of the late Nunzio Mazzone. Cherished mother of Debbie & her late husband Rich Tashjian, Joey & his wife Michele Mazzone, and Lisa & her husband Chris Russo. Affectionately called "mom" by her grandchildren, Alisha (Mike), Chelsea, Devin (Garrett), Alexa (CJ), Joey (Natalie), Demi (Mauro), Desiree (Adam), Cassidy (John), Richie, Dean (Erica), and Nunzio. Adored great-grandmother of Cameron, Auriella, Nico, Taytum, Gemma, Gianni, and Lyla. She is also survived by her cousin Jimmy Carcione who she lovingly raised alongside her own children. Catherine's warm spirit and commitment to her family will be profoundly missed.

A memorial service will be held in her honor Tuesday from 2-4PM at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 7 Two Bridges Rd., Fairfield. A prayer service will be offered at 4pm. Friends and family are invited to come together to celebrate Catherine's life, share memories, and offer their condolences.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Montville Animal Shelter, 7 Church Lane, Montville, NJ 07045, to honor Catherine's love for animals.
