Deborah Ann Grysko (nee Van Natta), 73, known lovingly to all as Debby, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 19, 2026. Born in Jersey City, Debby lived a life marked by wit, warmth, and intelligence.
Debby was the beloved wife of the late Richard Grysko, together they shared a bond of deep affection and enduring companionship. She was predeceased by her parents, William Steven and Eva (Popailo) Van Natta, her sister Helen and brothers, Walton and William Van Natta. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Karen Fiermonte and husband Tommaso, Eric Grysko and wife Karen Hawkinson; siblings Corrine Downes and husband Terence, Lisa Ballweg and husband Owen; brother in law Gary Grysko and wife Diane; grandchildren, Alessandro Fiermonte, Oliver, and Lietzie Grysko; nieces and nephews, Alexandra Walsh, Kyrsten Van Natta, Nicolette (Justin) Dalhamer, Olivia and Owen Ballweg, Gianna and Steven Van Natta, and Steven (Cara) and Matthew (Rebeca) Grysko; great-nieces and nephews, Ryan, Jack and Kacie Grysko and Jaxon and Evangelina Dalhamer. Debby is also survived by many extended family members and friends.
Debby was a woman of notable intellect and determination, having pursued her education with admirable purpose. Having completed her Bachelor’s Degree at St. Peter’s College, she later earned an MBA in Marketing at Rutgers University.
Over the years, Deborah worked in several large companies, where her talents were known and respected. Yet her truest professional calling was found in service to Bayonne High School, where she served as one of the librarians and later retired. During her time at Bayonne High School, she made lifelong friends and truly enjoyed her daily interactions with students.
She was, by all who knew her, funny, spirited, extremely intelligent and well read. Her mind was a lively place, full of thought, daydreams, memory, and discernment. She delighted in conversation with friends and family alike. She was passionate about politics and cared greatly for her family. Her favorite pastime was going on movie dates with her late husband Richard, and those cherished moments remained among the sweetest chapters of her life. While Debby will be missed dearly by family and friends, there is comfort in knowing she has been reunited with her soulmate and best friend, Richard, in heaven.
