Eva Antisz

April 9, 1923 — February 12, 2024

Bayonne

Eva Antisz, 100, lifelong resident of Bayonne passed Monday February 12th surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bayonne on Prospect Avenue to Andrew & Catherine (nee Fusak) Szmaida, April 9, 1923. She helped raise her 3 brothers Michael, Paul and George. She shared her beautiful voice in the St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church Choir for many years. Eva joins her loving husband of 60 years, Julian, who passed in 2006. Together they built a wonderful life where they enjoyed Polka Dancing and trips to the home they built in Beach Haven West.

Together they raised their children, Juliann and Stephen, with her beloved dog Bubbles.  Eva was an avid reader, lover of music, puzzles, word searches and LEGOs. Working with her grandson John, they created and displayed their LEGO art throughout her home. She enjoyed having her nails done by her granddaughter Alison, and debating politics and current affairs with her grandson Stephen.

Eva and Julian enjoyed over 50 years of friendship with Helen and Stephen Spiak. Together they traveled and spent many summers crabbing down the shore. Eva was everyone’s grandma, but was so proud of her grandchildren; Alison (John), Stephen Jr. (Julia) & John Antisz, Vinny Pona, Natalie (Rob) Cummings, David (Emily) Nederostek & her grandpup Zoey. She is survived by her children Lt. Stephen Antisz (Retired Bayonne Police Dept.) and his wife Donna Antisz & Julianne Nederostek and her husband David.

Her humor and presence were infectious and she prided herself on her sharp wit. When asked what was the secret to a long life, she always said, “being bitchy.” Surviving the Great Depression, WWII, COVID, and Cancer, she witnessed countless advances in the last century; she remained resilient. She was lovingly cared for by her daughter-in-law Donna, son Stephen and kind doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals. We will celebrate her life and legacy every day, but she will be missed by all. You are our Sunshine.
