With heavy hearts and joyous memories, we celebrate the life of Francesco DeGennaro, a beloved husband, father, and devoted Nonno, who passed away on August 17, 2025, at the age of 77. Born to Mauro & Anna on October 26, 1947, in Molfetta, Italy, Frank brought his vibrant spirit and love for life to the United States in 1979, dedicating himself to creating a better life for his family.
Francesco was a skilled welder and mechanic and earned respect and admiration from his colleagues at Roselle Disposal and friends alike.
Known for his infectious laughter and love for Italian culture, Francesco had a passion for good red wine, hearty pasta, and a strong espresso. He delighted in sharing old Italian songs, often gathering family and friends around him to celebrate the rich heritage he so loved. Frank's warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege to know him.
A true family man, Frank cherished his wife, Angela (nee Samarelli) DeGennaro. Proud father to Mauro & his wife Christina, Antonio, Annalisa, and Melissa & her husband William Adams. He took great joy in being Nonno to his grandson, Salvatore Francesco & his wife Brianna. Dear brother of Gennaro & his wife Rosa Loiacono, Laura Loiacono, Felicia & her husband Bartolo DePinto, Giuseppe & his wife Tonia DeGennaro, Nicola & his wife Margarita DeGennaro, and Onofrio & his wife Mariangela DeGennaro. He is survived by his cherished extended family member both here and in Italy. Francesco will be dearly missed by many, including his lifelong friends and their families: Frank and Rita Petronelli; Giovanni and Elizabeth Ventura; Dominick and Theresa Cirilli; Giuseppe and Franca Samarelli; and Domenico and Marta DeCandia.
Funeral services honoring Francesco's remarkable life will be held on Friday at 11AM at Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. Funeral Mass to follow Friday 12Noon at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Lyndhurst. Friends and family are warmly invited to join in celebrating his legacy, sharing stories, and paying their respects for a visitation Thursday 3-7PM at the funeral home.
As we gather to remember Francesco DeGennaro, let us cherish the moments we shared, the love he gave, and the legacy of family he cultivated. May his spirit continue to inspire joy and togetherness in our hearts.
