Fred Joseph Massaro, known affectionately as Fred to his family and friends, passed away on September 7, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on December 12, 1959, in Passaic, NJ, Fred was a man who lived his life with unwavering integrity, a compassionate heart, and a jovial spirit that touched everyone he met. His final days were spent surrounded by the love and warmth of his family.
Fred's early years set the foundation for a life of service and dedication. He answered the call of duty and served his country with honor in the United States Navy from 1978 to 1982. After his military tenure, Fred established himself as a respected collection manager for several companies, where his work ethic and leadership were both admired and emulated.
Family was the cornerstone of Fred's life. He was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Betty Massaro, who instilled in him the values of faith, family, and hard work. Fred was a cherished father to his devoted daughter, Lisa Brown, and a loving father-in-law to her husband, Will Brown. He remained a supportive former spouse and friend to Lisa’s mother, Joyce Massaro. Fred held a deep love for his grandson, Joseph Brown, and loved to video chat and hear stories about his day. The Fab 5 was made up of Fred, Joyce, Lisa, Will and Janet Brown (Will Brown's mother), and together, they went on many vacations and adventures!
Fred was also a dear brother to Margie Wood and her husband Howard, John Massaro and his wife Helen, Mark Massaro, and his wife Cindi. The Massaro family gatherings and reunions will forever hold the laughter and stories that Fred contributed. His Aunt Mari Renwick will fondly remember her nephew’s passion and love for family, Frank Sinatra, and the New York Yankees. Fred’s legacy will continue to live on through his many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
A devout Christian, Fred’s strong faith was an anchor throughout his life. He was a longtime member of Liquid Church, where he found fellowship and purpose in serving his community and deepening his spiritual journey. Fred had a special gift for praying with others — offering comfort, encouragement, and spiritual strength to those around him. His faith wasn’t just something he believed; it was something he lived and generously shared.
Fred's interests and hobbies were as rich as his personality. He had a deep love for his dog, Latte, who was his constant and loyal companion. Fred was a true music lover — whether singing along to his favorite tunes or appreciating a good melody, music brought him joy. He was also a lifelong New York Yankees fan, always ready to cheer on his team.
Known for his quick wit and sense of humor, Fred was a natural-born entertainer who loved to tell dad jokes, make people laugh, and be the life of the party. His warm personality drew people in, and his hugs were legendary — the kind that made you feel safe, comforted, and loved.
As we bid farewell to Fred, we take comfort in knowing that his life was lived to the fullest. His influence and the love he shared will continue to ripple through the lives of those who knew him. Fred Joseph Massaro will be deeply missed, but he is now fully healed as he is in the presence of his Lord and Savior.
