George Fountas

George Fountas, 87, of Wayne, New Jersey formerly of Fairfield for over 50 years passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026, with his loving wife by his side.

Born on October 17, 1938, on Staten Island to Xristos and Mary Fountas, George was a devoted husband, father, and friend. Graduating from Brooklyn Tech High School and Pace College, he built a life defined by hard work, quiet generosity, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved. For over 40 years, he worked in accounting, operations, and procurement earning the respect of colleagues for his integrity, sharp mind, and steady leadership.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Kasseane ("Kassy"), his two sons, Christopher and Andrew, and his daughter-in-law, Lea, married to Christopher. George was also a proud grandfather to his three grandsons, Nicholas, Henry, and Charles Fountas, all of whom brought immense happiness to his life. Along with his three nephews, Harry & Chris Ruska and Chris Fountas.  Predeceased by his brother James Fountas and sister Peggy Ruska. 

George was a lifelong and passionate football fan, especially devoted to the New York Giants. He was a season ticket holder since the early 1970s, rarely missing a game and cherishing every moment spent cheering on his team.

George will be remembered for his sense of humor, his love for his family, and the joy he shared with others. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

The funeral services will be private at the request of the family.
