It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gerald Longo who left us on August 1, 2025, at the age of 78 surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 1, 1947, in Newark to Jerry & Annette Longo, he spent his earlier years in Belleville, where he graduated from Belleville High School in 1964. He continued his education by earning a Bachelor's Degree from Youngstown University, followed by an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
"Pudgy," as he was affectionately known, dedicated his professional life to the industry he loved, serving as Chief Financial Officer for American Can International and later Midhattan Woodworking Corp. Throughout his career, he was widely respected for his expertise and leadership in finance. As the owner of Hollywood Deli from 1990-2000, Pudgy served not only quality food but also excellent customer service.
Devoted husband of Barbara (nee Valvano) Longo for 51 cherished years. Loving father of Jaime C. Longo, Esq. and Dina Longo & her late husband Tadhg O'Fatharta. Proud Pop-Pop of Grace and James. Cherished uncle of Ken Scaglione, Michael Scaglione, Kristine Banister, Joseph Valvano, Alyson Zikmund, and Todd Zikmund.
Pudgy's greatest joy lay in his unwavering support for his girls, particularly in their athletic pursuits. Despite a demanding work schedule, he never missed a swim meet or tennis match and devoted his time to coaching his daughters' recreation and club teams in soccer, softball, and basketball. He was an avid model train enthusiast, and in his later years, he actively participated in the Fairfield Chapter of Unico National, embodying his commitment to community service.
