Gloria Jeckert

Gloria Jeckert passed away, leaving behind a family who loved her and many friends whose lives she touched over the years.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Gloria was the daughter of Josephine Bowen and Samuel Roselando. She spent her childhood in Jersey City before moving to Lyndhurst, New Jersey, where she and her husband, Allen Jeckert, raised their family and became active members of the community.

For many years, Gloria served as a crossing guard on Stuyvesant Avenue, where she became a familiar face to generations of local families. She later worked as a bookkeeper for a wine importer and at Minuteman Press.

Gloria enjoyed staying active and social throughout her life. She spent many years bowling in leagues with a close-knit group of friends. After Allen's passing in 1988, she joined Parents Without Partners, where she developed many lasting friendships.

In 2002, Gloria moved to Paramus, where she became an active member of Paramus Senior Club #1. She looked forward to the club's activities and, until very recently, rarely missed her Tuesday afternoons at the Senior Center playing Bingo with friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Jeckert, and her grandson, Michael Grillo.

She is survived by her children, James (Chiarina) Jeckert, Joanne (Patrick) Chichizola, and Allen (Sherry) Jeckert; her grandchildren, Amy (Brian) Ross, Chelsey (Nathan) Mickem, Corey Chichizola (fiancé Jonathan Guy), Erica (Bryan) Yeagle, Jacob Jeckert, Kerry (Brittany) Jeckert, Nicole (Michael) Ciano, and Tyler (Amy) Jeckert; her 14 great-grandchildren; and her brother, George William Bowen II.

Gloria will be remembered for her strength, resilience, and the many years she spent with her family, and enjoying the friendships she made throughout her life. She leaves behind many happy memories that will be treasured by those who knew and loved her.
