James "Ray" Martin, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on December 7, 1945, in Newark, NJ, he spent his life dedicated to his family and his work, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.

A proud Army veteran, James served his country with honor before embarking on a fruitful career. He first delivered CO2 for Liquid Carbonic, but it was his 20 years as a foreman with IATSE Union 59 at the Meadowlands Convention Center that truly defined his professional life. Known for his strong work ethic and leadership, he fostered a spirit of camaraderie among his colleagues.

James was passionate about life, enjoying the simple pleasures it offered. He loved fishing and crabbing, often spending weekends by the water with family and friends. A devoted sports fan, he supported the New York Yankees, New York Knicks, and New York Jets with unwavering enthusiasm. He also found joy in cooking, sharing delicious meals with loved ones that brought everyone together around the table.

James was preceded in death by his mother, Geraldine Allis Logan; and his brother, Larry Martin.

James is survived by his beloved wife, Janice Martin (nee DiLascio); his son, Christopher Martin; his daughter, Leann Martin; his sisters-in-law, Judith Lento and Paula Martin; as well as many cherished cousins and friends. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, Lyndhurst on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Funeral Thursday, April 16th, 2026 at 9:30AM from Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home. A Mass will be celebrated in his honor at Sacred Heart Church at 10:30 AM, followed by entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery & Mausoleum, North Arlington.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, reflecting James's caring spirit and love for children.

As we gather to celebrate James's remarkable life, we invite all who knew him to join us in honoring this extraordinary man. His kindness, love, and laughter will be greatly missed, but his legacy will forever remain in our hearts.
