John Aversano Jr., 61, of Nutley, New Jersey, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. He was a man of deep and abiding faith who walked with God throughout his life. His relationship with the Lord was reflected in the way he treated others and in the kindness he extended to the people around him.
Despite the many physical challenges he faced later in life, John remained steadfast in his faith. He continued to express it through countless acts of kindness, generosity, and compassion. His faith was not simply something he spoke about; it was something he lived, in the care he showed others and in the quiet, meaningful ways he made a difference.
John was a gifted artist from childhood through adulthood, with a natural creativity and an eye for detail.
He also had a curious, inventive mind and loved taking things apart to discover how they worked. That lifelong interest in understanding mechanisms, combined with his technical aptitude and problem-solving abilities, led him into work in computer technology and electronics at ITT and Dialogic.
Beyond his talents and technical abilities, Johnny will be remembered for his thoughtful nature, his willingness to listen, and his distinctive sense of humor. He valued time with family and friends, whether gathered for game nights, enjoying movie marathons, or simply sharing one another's company. To him, the ordinary moments spent together were often the ones that mattered most.
John's life was shaped by perseverance, curiosity, faith, and love. Those who knew him will remember not only his gifts and interests, but also the compassion he showed, the laughter he brought, and the lasting place he held in the hearts of the people who loved him.
John was predeceased by his beloved mother, Agnes (Fucci), and his father, John Daniel. He leaves behind his loving sister, Gynine, and his cherished nephew, Alexander. He is also survived by cousins who were like siblings to him, his aunts and uncle, lifelong friends, and his extended church family, all of whom will carry his memory with love.
The family is grateful for the love, prayers, and support shown to John throughout his life and during his illness. A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, October 30th, 2026 from 12PM - 2PM at Ippolito- Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the family in John's memory are appreciated.
