John Michael Kavula

June 20, 1942 — March 17, 2023

John Michael Kavula, 80, of Barnegat, New Jersey passed away after a short illness on Friday, March 17, 2023 with his wife and children by his side. John was a loving husband to his wife of 57 years, Mabel, and a wonderful father who meant everything to his daughter, Kathleen, and son, David.

John was born on June 20, 1942 in Bayonne, New Jersey to parents Michael and Ann Kavula. He was a Bayonne resident for 62 years. In addition to time spent in the U.S. Army Reserves, he was employed by Western Electric for 25 years. He found his true calling in insurance sales, working at his brother-in-law's insurance agency for nearly 30 years. Some of his clients became his closest friends. His favorite pastimes included bowling in the Mt. Carmel Lyceum Bowling League, playing poker on Friday nights, and golfing with his best friends. John always preached about the value of friendship and anyone who was his friend was a friend for life.

John is survived by his wife, Mabel Kavula (Hrychynszyn), his daughter, Kathleen Koval, his son, David Kavula, and his wife, Erin, his grandson, Michael, and granddaughter, Quinn. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Carole Graebe, his in-laws Woody Graebe, Mary Ann Guagenti, John and Carol Hrychynszyn, Bobby and Lucille Hrychynszyn, and four nieces and one nephew. He is also survived by numerous treasured lifelong friends.
