John Petho

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John Petho, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left us peacefully at the age of 68 on March 23, 2026. Born on October 12, 1957 to Janos and Eva (nee Szanto) Petho, John lived a life dedicated to his family and the things he cherished most.

Formally of Roseland, NJ, John was known for his quick wit and sarcastic humor, which he shared generously with everyone around him.John had a deep passion for automobiles, along with a special love for animals-particularly eagles and cardinals. Fluent in both Hungarian and English, he often delighted in sharing stories that celebrated his cultural heritage and beloved family traditions.

John is survived by his loving wife, Beth (nee LaQuaglia) Petho. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children: Eric Petho & his girlfriend Rachael Ciccone; Gina Strumolo; Alejandra Petho & her husband Cristian Saeteros, along with their children, Gabriella, Camila, and Miguel; Luisa Petho & her fiancé Justin Alfiler; and Jesica Petho & her fiancée Jill Meluson. John is also survived by his brother Les Petho & his wife Rita, cousins Tom & MaryAnne Szvetecz, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Throughout his life, John valued the time spent with his family above all else. His warmth and devotion will be felt long after his passing.

Friends & family will be received Thursday 4-8 PM. Funeral service Friday 11 AM at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 7 Two Bridges Road, Fairfield; friends & family invited to gather at 10 AM. Interment to follow Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

John Petho will be profoundly missed, but his legacy of love, humor, and devotion to family will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.
