Joseph J. Tamburino, Jr.

February 18, 1958 — July 28, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph J. Tamburino, Jr., who departed this life on July 28, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on February 18, 1958, in Newark, NJ, Joseph was a lifelong resident of the community he cherished deeply. He dedicated over 20 years of his life to working as a longshoreman at the Port Newark, where his hard work and unwavering commitment were integral to the maritime transportation industry.

A man of many passions, Joseph was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he enjoyed camping in the great outdoors. He was also musically inclined, often found singing, playing his guitar, or entertaining friends and family with his beloved kazoo and harmonica. Joseph's resourcefulness was exemplified by his preparedness; he was never without a flashlight ready to illuminate the way during unexpected power outages.

Joseph was preceded in death by his father, Joseph J. Tamburino, Sr.

Joseph leaves behind his beloved spouse, Carol Tamburino (nee Ratkowski); his devoted mother, Mary Ann Tamburino; his cherished daughters, Stephanie Tamburino and Elena and her husband Jake Sorber; his caring sister, Lisa and her husband Kenny Zdanek; his brother, Anthony and his wife Jennifer Tamburino; and his cherished grandson, Rylan Good. He is also survived by three nieces, Casey, Amanda, and Gianna; his great-nephew, Zaiden; along with numerous dear family members and friends who will deeply miss him.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1st, 2025 from 4:00pm-8:00pm in Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, Lyndhurst NJ. Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025 at 10:00am in St. Michael the Archangel R.C. Church, Lyndhurst. Cremation is private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to Sloan Kettering, organizations that reflect Joseph's legacy of care and generosity.

Joseph J. Tamburino, Jr. will be remembered for his gentle spirit, joyous laughter, and unwavering love for his family and friends. He touched the lives of many and leaves behind a lasting legacy of kindness and dedication.
