Josephine Scopelliti

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Josephine Scopelliti, who left this world on April 11, 2026. Born in Calabria, Italy, Josephine's journey brought her to the United States at a very young age, where she lived most of her life in Kearny and Lyndhurst.

Josephine was a dedicated secretary for Worthington Corporation in Harrison, known for her professionalism and strong work ethic. Beyond her professional contributions, she was a loving aunt to her nephew, John Micalizzi, a great aunt to Joseph and Maria Micalizzi, and a great great aunt to Phoenix, Roman, and Mike who will forever hold dear in their hearts the memories of her kindness, warmth, and strength. She was also blessed with a wide circle of dear friends, whom she cherished deeply and who brought her great joy throughout her life. A woman of deep faith, Josephine was devoted to her Catholic beliefs, which remained a guiding force throughout her life. Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, Santo and Frances Scopelliti, and her sister, Mary Micalizzi.

Visitation will be held at Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, April 15, 2026 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church at 10 AM, with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery & Mausoleum.

As we remember Josephine, we celebrate a life filled with love, resilience, and grace. She made a lasting impact on all who had the privilege to know her.
