It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Karen Holzherr, age 69, of Rutherford, NJ, who left us peacefully on November 12, 2025. Born on April 6, 1956 to John & Eleanor Mount, Karen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone around her.

Karen was an avid athlete and lifelong sports enthusiast. She was an excellent golfer and tennis player who also loved to ski whenever she had the chance. Her passion for sports reflected her energetic spirit and love of friendly competition.Karen dedicated her professional life to educational sales at McGraw Hill, where her commitment and hard work earned her the respect of colleagues and clients alike. However, her greatest joys came from her family.

She was married to her husband, Doug Holzherr, for 43 years.  She was not only the love of his life, but his truest friend. Their marriage was a testament to devotion; filled with shared dreams, laughter, and a quiet understanding that only soulmates can know. Her presence brought light to his days, and her love remains the guiding force in his heart.  She was a remarkable mother to her sons, Matthew & his wife Katherine Holzherr, and Jared & his wife Andrea Holzherr. She was also a cherished grandmother to Emma and Leah, who brought her immeasurable joy. She was the dear sister of her three brothers, James Mount, Jack Mount, and the late Micheal Mount.

Karen is also survived by her identical twin sister, Carolyn Duffy, with whom she shared an extraordinary and unbreakable bond, a connection that went beyond words, rooted in the kind of love only twins can truly understand. Her legacy of love and dedication will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

She cherished her close relationships and built two tight-knit circles of friends - one made up of her dearest lifelong companions, and another of parents she met through her children. Karen's warmth, humor, and generous heart made her a source of joy and encouragement to everyone lucky enough to know her.Friends & family will be recieved Sunday 2-6 PM. Funeral Monday 10 AM from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. Funeral mass 11 AM at Queen of Peace R.C. Church. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Karen's life was defined by love, laughter, and a spirit that lifted those around her. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and in the countless lives she touched with her kindness, strength, and joy for life.
