Louis William Barra

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Louis William Barra, 85, who passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026. Born on July 22, 1940, Louis was a resident of Fairfield, NJ, where he embraced life with warmth and generosity.

Louis dedicated a significant portion of his life to serving his community as a postal worker at the Newark Post Office, an occupation he held with pride and commitment. He was known for his kindness and steadfast work ethic, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Beloved husband of Arleen Dorothy (nee Ooms). Loving father of Robert Barra & his wife Laura and the late Christopher Barra. Cherished grandfather of Amanda, Anthony, and Christopher "CJ" Barra. Dear brother of the late Ralph and Donnie Barra.

Louis was an active member of the Nutley Old Guard and the Columbus Association, and his contributions to these organizations will be fondly remembered.

A Chapel Service will be held Friday, April 24 11AM at Gate of Heaven Chapel Mausoleum where Louis and his son Chris will be layed to rest together.
