It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Luis Taupier, who left us on October 8, 2026, at the age of 96. Born on February 6, 1930, Luis was a cherished father, grandfather and great-grandfather who touched the lives of many during his remarkable journey.

Luis was a political refugee who fled Cuba in 1969, arriving in the United States with little more than hope and determination. Through hard work and unwavering dedication, he and his wife established a successful import business that has thrived for over 50 years. Sonia's Fashion, Inc. continues to run today under the direction of their son. Luis's entrepreneurial spirit and resilience served as an inspiration to his family and community.

Luis cherished the time spent with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid New York Yankees fan, sharing his passion for the game with his family, often throwing a baseball with his great-grandchildren well into his senior years. Those moments became cherished memories that will forever be held close by his family.

Luis was the beloved husband of the late Sonia Taupier. He was the treasured father of Louis and his wife, Lisa Taupier, and of the late Vivian and Carlos Taupier; adored grandfather of Jaclyn and her husband, Christopher Brancato, Brian and his wife, Sarah Taupier, and Brittany and her husband, Josiah Chalmers; and cherished “Abuelo” to his great-grandchildren: Jordan, Christopher, Mackenzie, Brandon, Leila, and Scarlett.

Luis will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his unwavering love, strength, and the joy he brought to the lives of those around him. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-8 PM at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Rd., Lyndhurst. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 AM at the same location, followed by entombment at Flower Hill Cemetery & Mausoleum, North Bergen.
