Maritza M. Soza

Maritza M. Soza, known for her contagious laughter and smile, passed away on February 7, 2024, in Jersey City, NJ after courageously battling stomach cancer. She was born on October 17, 1958, in Matagalpa, Nicaragua to Jorge and Ignacia Rayo (née Rugama). She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother.

Maritza was deeply involved in her church community. As an active member of Assumption All Saints Church and the Legion of Mary, she found solace and strength in her Catholic faith, touching the lives of many with her kindness and devotion. Her unwavering faith and dedication to serving others exemplified her kind and selfless nature.

Family and friends were always at the center of Maritza's heart. She found true joy in being surrounded by loved ones and creating lifelong memories together. Her warm presence would light up any room, making gatherings filled with laughter and love.

She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years Jose, who stood by her side throughout her illness with unwavering support and love. She leaves behind her two sons, Jose Francisco along with his partner Shevon, and Christopher, along with his wife Jennifer, who were the pride and joy of her life. She also leaves behind her adored grandchildren, Marissa Hope and Javier Jose, who brought immense happiness and laughter into her life. Maritza is also fondly remembered by her siblings Teresa, Rosa, Addys, Oscar, Jenis, Irayda, Jorge Alberto, and Thelma. She was preceded in death by her brothers Jose Ramon and Jorge Uriel. Additionally, she leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

Maritza will be remembered for her strength, her infinite love for her family, and her commitment to her faith. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and love that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Maritza's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, and she will be deeply missed by all. May she rest in eternal peace.

Friends, family, and loved ones are invited to pay their final respects during the visitation at the Caiola-Stellato Funeral Home in Bayonne, NJ on February 12, 2024. The visitation will begin at 4:00 PM and conclude at 8:00 PM.

A Mass in loving memory of Maritza will be held the following day, February 13, 2024, at Assumption All Saints Church in Jersey City, NJ. The Mass will start at 10:30 AM 

Maritza will be laid to rest at St. Gertrude Cemetery & Mausoleum in Colonia, NJ following the Mass. The entombment ceremony will commence on February 13th at 12:15 PM, allowing friends and family to bid their final farewells.
