It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary C. Keegan, who left this world on September 9, 2025, one day after her 91st birthday. Mary was born on September 8, 1934, in Brooklyn, NY to Arthur and Augusta Burns. She was a cherished resident of Fairfield, NJ, since 1961. She was a devoted homemaker and a beloved matriarch of her family.
Mary's life was filled with love, laughter, and dedication to her family. Beloved wife of the late Edward T. Keegan. Loving mother of Ron & his wife Cathy and Tom & his wife Ann Marie Keegan. Treasured grandmother of Casey & her husband Dan Shapiro, Dan & his wife Stephanie, Kelly, Erin, Tommy, and Kyle Keegan. Adored great-grandmother of Sloane, Colson, and Maeve. Loving sister of the late Bob & his wife Grace Burns. Dear sister-in-law to James & his wife Irene and the late Arthur & Bea Keegan.
A founding member of St. Thomas More Church, Mary and her late husband, Edward, left a lasting legacy with their names engraved on the church bell tower. Edward served as a past president of the Holy Name Society, reflecting their commitment to their faith and community.
Mary had a remarkable talent for crocheting. Each family member was gifted with several of her beautiful handmade blankets, and her lovingly crafted pieces have stood the test of time, providing comfort for generations.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Mary's life during the visitation Thursday 3-7PM at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 7 Two Bridges Rd., Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday 10AM St. Thomas More Church. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Mary's warmth and compassion will be deeply missed, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. In honor of her commitment to the church we ask that donations be made in her memory to St. Thomas More Church, 12 Hollywood Ave., Fairfield, NJ 07004.
