Maryann Ciraulo (nee Ackerson), cherished mother, grandmother, and devoted educator, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2024, at the age of 74. Born in the Bronx, NY, on September 4, 1949, she was raised in Englewood Cliffs, NJ. Maryann's early years were marked by academic and artistic pursuits, which shaped her lifelong commitment to learning and creativity.
A proud graduate of Fort Lee High School and Fairleigh Dickinson University, Maryann worked as an editor for the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) before taking a meaningful hiatus to focus on her family, a testament to her dedication and love.
From 1993 to 2017, Maryann brought her vibrant energy and expertise to Fort Lee School #2 as a teacher of Kindergarten, BSI Literature, and ESL Summer School. Her exceptional contributions were recognized when she was honored as District Teacher of the Year in 2008. Maryann’s talents extended beyond the classroom; she was a gifted raconteur whose smart sense of humor and generous spirit endeared her to many. Maryann was also a gifted visual artist who had a keen eye for beauty. She was a beloved figure not only in her family but also in the hearts of her students, colleagues, and friends.
She is survived by her loving son Graham and his wife Jennifer, her loving son Gregory and his wife Jessica, and her cherished granddaughters Cora and Gwendolyn.
A viewing and memorial service to honor Maryann’s life and contributions will be held on Wednesday, August 28th 4PM-8PM at Hunt-Stellato Funeral Home, 1601 Palisade Ave, Fort Lee, NJ.
