Paul R. Nickdowicz

Paul Nickdowicz, aged 80, died Thursday, April 6, 2023. He was a longtime resident of Lyndhurst. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia (nee Wahlgren), his son, Michael & his partner Katherine Lescano, and his daughter, Melissa Grunstra, her husband Gary, and his granddaughter, Kathryn; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Walter & Christine Wahlgren; also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Charles & Elsie Nickdowicz (nee Ortenzi). Paul was born in Peckville, Pennsylvania but lived most of his life in New Jersey. He graduated from Lyndhurst High School in 1960 and was an alumni of Fairleigh Dickinson University. He was a member of the New Jersey National Guard from 1964 to 1970. Paul was an avid fan of the Dodgers, from their days in Brooklyn to their move to Los Angeles. He spent his leisure time fishing and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his cherished granddaughter, Kathryn. Paul spent most of his career working in transportation, finally retiring in 2008 after many years at Old Dominion Freight Line in Jersey City. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Lyndhurst. The wake will be held on Monday evening from 4 to 8pm at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church at 10AM on Tuesday. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington following the Mass.
