Peter Lavell

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Lavell, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who passed on July 8, 2025, at the age of 66. Peter was born to Louis & Rose Lavell on January 14, 1959, in Jersey City, NJ, and spent his life dedicated to his work and family.

Peter graduated from Dickinson High School in Jersey City and began his career with Amtrak, where he worked from 1976 to 1989. He then joined New Jersey Transit, serving as a Railroad Machinist before ascending to the role of Assistant Building Maintenance Manager, a position he held until his retirement in 2023. Known among colleagues for his unwavering work ethic and resourcefulness, Peter was a handyman at heart, always ready to lend a hand or fix anything around the house.

A passionate car enthusiast, Peter enjoyed working on automobiles and cherished every moment spent on the bowling alley, where he found joy and camaraderie. He faced his battle with cancer with remarkable courage and resilience, inspiring all who knew him with his unwavering spirit.

Beloved husband of Adoracion "Dori" Lavell. Loving father of Sophia and Michael Lavell. Dear brother of Ronald & his wife Diane, Robert & his wife Deborah, the late Martin & his surviving wife Rose and the late Louis Lavell. Cherished uncle of several nieces, a nephew and many great nieces & nephews. He will also be dearly remembered by his enthusiastic canine companion, Bella, who brought him joy everyday.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Monday & Tuesday from 3 - 7 pm. Funeral Wednesday from the funeral home at 9:30am, a Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church Wednesday 10:30 am. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.

As we say goodbye to Peter, we remember him as a compassionate man, whose kindness and dedication have left an indelible mark on our hearts. May he rest in peace, knowing the legacy of love he has created will continue to flourish through his family and friends.
