Shamir Jitendra Patel

Shamir Jitendra Patel, a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend, passed away on September 26, 2026, at the age of 43. He was born on February 12, 1983, in Elizabeth, NJ, and spent his life in Union, NJ, where he touched the lives of so many with his kindness, warmth, and compassion.

A lover of cars from a young age, Shamir dedicated the past 20 years of his career to working as an automotive technician at Joyce Honda in Denville. He was respected and beloved by his colleagues and friends, and his passion and expertise were evident in everything he did.

Above all else, Shamir was devoted to his family, and especially to his daughter, Amelia, who was his light and greatest joy. He cherished every moment with Amelia and took immense pride in being her father.

Shamir led with his heart in everything he did. He never hesitated to put others before himself, and his ability to form genuine and meaningful connections left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His sisters lovingly thought of him as their “gentle giant.” While he may have had a tough exterior, those closest to him knew the love, warmth, and compassion that filled his soul. Often, all it took was his smile to see the goodness within him.

Shamir shared a special bond with his sisters and loved his nieces as though they were his own daughters. He promised his sisters that he would always be there for them, and they now carry that promise forward by vowing to protect and care for his beloved daughter, Amelia, just as they always protected and cared for Shamir.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Amelia Christine Shamir Patel, his loving parents, Jitendra and Ila Patel; his cherished sisters, Hemisha Urgola and her husband, John, and Kinal Vayas and her husband, Nishit; He also leaves behind his dear nieces, Sia Urgola, Leila Urgola, and Nyssa Vayas; his maternal grandmother, Jayaben Patel; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and colleagues who will forever remember his kindness, infectious smile, and generous spirit.

Shamir's life, though far too short, was filled with love and meaningful connections. He gave so freely of himself to those around him, and the love he shared will continue to live on through his daughter, his family, and all those whose lives he touched.

May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love he gave so freely to others.
