Sonja Velichkova

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sonja Velichkova, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, and friend. Sonja entered into eternal rest on August 10, 2026, at the age of 48. Born in Prilep, Macedonia, on December 20, 1977 to Hristaki Svrtinovski and Mara Svrtinovska, Sonja dedicated her life to her family and her work.

She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from Stockton University and went on to achieve her MBA in Finance from Boston College. As an accomplished Executive Vice President at US Bank Global Fund Services in Hackensack, NJ, Sonja balanced her demanding career with unwavering dedication to her family.

Sonja is survived by her loving husband, Mario Velichkov, and their cherished daughters, Mia and Sophia Velichkova. She is also survived by her dear brother, Emil Svrtinovski. Sonja's extraordinary spirit touched the lives of all who knew her, and her legacy will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.

An incredible mother, Sonja was passionate about nurturing her daughters' talents and passions in academics and sports. She could often be found cheering Mia and Sophia on from the sidelines, guiding them to excel in all that they pursued. Beyond her role as a mother, Sonja was active in her community, always willing to lend a helping hand, support others in need, and inspire those around her to become better versions of themselves.

Sonja's love for exploration took her around the globe, traveling to countries such as Singapore, Italy, Portugal, and the Caribbean, always seeking to immerse herself in new cultures, cuisines, and experiences. Her zest for life, combined with her charm and infectious laughter, brightened the lives of those she encountered. She leaves behind treasured memories of her adventures in nature, long walks in local parks, and a fervent appreciation for the beauty of life.

Friends & family will be recieved Friday 10 AM - 12 PM. Funeral service 12 PM at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. Interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery.
