Susan Karen Tereski

Susan Karen Tereski, beloved history teacher and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on June 17, 1941, in Newark, New Jersey, Susan dedicated her life to education, inspiring countless students during her tenure at East Side High School in Newark for 39 years. She not only founded and ran East Side Adult School, but she also served as the first sports manager at East Side High School.

A graduate with a Bachelor's Degree, Susan's passion for history extended beyond the classroom. She played an integral role in the Clifton Public Library, where she ran the Book Knook, fostering a love for reading and learning in the community. Her commitment to enriching the lives of others was further exemplified through her involvement as a member of AARP Seniors of Clifton. In addition, she was the president of St. Casmir Parish Council, Chairman of Deanery 21, and participated on the Archbishop Pastoral Council for 6 years.

Susan is survived by her loving sister Carol and her husband John Porada, as well as her devoted nephew John Porada and his wife Jennifer, her niece Michele Porada, her great-niece Amanda Sanagorski, and her great-nephews Brandon Sanagorski, John Tyler Porada, and Ryan Porada. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, education, and community service that will not be forgotten.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 7th, 2025 from 10:30am-12:30pm in Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, Lyndhurst NJ. Burial, to follow, Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington NJ.
