It is with profound sadness, yet a sense of celebration for a life well-lived, that we announce the passing of Thomas James Cirone, age 69, who entered eternal rest on May 18, 2025. Born on October 5, 1955, in Jersey City, NJ, Tom was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
A proud alumnus of Fort Lee High School, where he graduated in 1973, Tom exemplified dedication and talent as a member of the wrestling team. After receiving his Bachelor's Degree at the School of Visual Arts in New York, NY, he returned to his alma mater in the fall of 2003 to share his passion for art with the next generation of students. As an esteemed art teacher at Fort Lee High School, Tom played an instrumental role in enriching the school community by creating beautiful hallway murals alongside his students. His influence extended beyond the classroom, as he also coached football, baseball, and pursued his great passion for wrestling, mentoring countless young athletes over the years.
Prior to his teaching career, Tom worked as an illustrator at Grey Advertising in New York City for 15 years, showcasing his artistic talent and creativity. He was a devoted member of the First Reformed Church of the Palisades, where he shared his musical and acting gifts, and leadership.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife Kathleen M. Treacy; his children Rachel and her husband Richard Gentile, Daniel and his wife Erika Cirone, and Hannah and her husband Alex Friend; his grandchildren Ava, Jack, Harper, June, Reese, and Olive; his brothers Frank and his wife Cindy Cirone, and Robert and his wife Karine Cirone; his sister Lynn and her husband Noel DeMarsico; his in-laws James & Catherine Treacy; sisters-in-law Nancy Treacy and Maura and her husband Rick Schoonmaker; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Each of them will carry forth his legacy of kindness, creativity, and community spirit. Thomas was preceded in death by his brother, Steven Cirone, and his parents Frank and Edith Cirone.
Tom's life was a tapestry woven with love, art, and dedication to others. As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the indelible impact he made on those who knew him.
