It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Virginia Rose Salvati, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who passed on May 31, 2026, at the age of 90. She was born on April 3, 1936, in Jersey City, NJ to John & Rose Pisa. Virginia lived a full and vibrant life, most recently residing in Riverdale, NJ.
Beloved wife of the late Vincent F. Salvati, Jr. Loving mother of Susan Roberts & her husband Cannoth, Vincent Salvati & his wife Patricia, Maria Grimes & her husband William and the late John Salvati & his surviving wife Lisa. Proud grandmother of Nicole, Scott & his wife Katie, Michael & his wife Katie, Daniel & his wife Maggie, Samantha & her husband Justin, John, Sabrina, Aliza, Keira, and the late Lauren Rose. Adored great-grandmother of Joshua, Noah, Abby, Arlo, Delia, Gabriella, Maeve, Luciana, Amelia, and John. Step-grandmother of Joseph and Jack. Virginia was the devoted twin sister to the late Immaculata Brennan, and leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be remembered by all who knew her.
Some people mother only those they brought into the world. She mothered everyone who came through her door. She had a way about her, she made you feel like you were missed even if she had just seen you, the way her kitchen always had room for one more, how she remembered the little things you had forgotten you'd told her. She had a gfit for making people feel chosen. She wasn't just loved, she was needed. Needed in the quiet, steady way that you don't fully understand until the need has nowhere left to go. The world is a little colder now as so many are grieving the loss of Viriginia. So many had the priviledge of calling her their second mother because her life was so full of love it couldn't be contained to just one family.
Visitation Sunday 3-8 PM at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 7 Two Bridges Rd., Fairfield. Funeral Mass Monday 10 AM St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Pompton Lakes. Interment Christ the King Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Virginia's memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
