William L Chiappane

William "Bill" Lester Chiappane, 85, of Fort Lee, New Jersey passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2023. Beloved father of Deborah (& son-in-law, the late Donald O'Prandy) the late Richard Chiappane, his surviving wife Lynn, the late David Chiappane, William B. Chiappane & his wife Paula Paradise & Jennifer Chiappane. Loving grandpa of Melissa Hutchison & her husband Mark, Matthew Chiappane, Chad Klotzkin, Brandon and Justin Chiappane. Cherished great-grandfather of Kyla Campbell, Clay Klotzkin and Cole Hutchison. Bill was an Army Sergeant who served during the Korean War. His work career began with New Jersey Bell Telephone - working his way up from lineman, draftsman to a Plant Manager at the Teaneck and Jersey City locations. He loved all outdoor activities, especially hiking and was a member of the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference. Bill was responsible for starting the Fort Lee National Little League and used his drafting knowledge to create the plans for the dugout, concession stand and field area. He started the North Jersey Chapter of Nicotine Anonymous for Valley Hospital specifically Bergen County Chapter - Paramus Wednesdays Group known as "Nic @ Nite", as well as, Saturdays Teaneck Group known as Saturday Serenity. Bill was a Mentor for various people who attended AA locations in Bergen County. He always greeted someone with a warm smile, firm handshake (or hug) and a big heart. Friends will be received on Thursday, May 11th from 3 PM - 7 PM at the Hunt-Stellato Funeral Home, 1601 Palisade Avenue, Fort Lee. Bill will be laid to rest on Friday, May 12th. Funeral Mass Friday 9:30 AM at Madonna Church on the Hill.
